Terms — Evaluation, Drain, Finish
When a number becomes a commitment, what an empty shell can turn up, why the drain is never yours to do, and what the first month after a new finish asks of you. Read once; it is shorter than a startup care sheet.
The quote comes after the evaluation
Anything quoted over the phone is a range, taken from the finish comparison and labeled a range as you hear it. The written quote follows someone standing at the pool with the surface in front of them, and once it is written it holds. It names the finish, the prep, the tile or step work included, and any repair spotted on the visit, each with its own price.
What an empty pool can reveal
Only two discoveries can change a written figure, and you hear about either before the finish goes on: hollow spots or cracks in the old surface that only show once the pool is drained and sounded, and equipment or fittings, a light niche or a skimmer throat, that turn out to need replacing while the shell is open. Either one is shown to you, priced, and decided by you. The empty-pool window is the cheapest moment to fix such things, which is why we look for them then rather than after the water is back.
The drain is ours to manage
Resurfacing starts with a drained pool, and in this county an empty shell wants to float. The drain, the hydrostatic relief, the groundwater watch and the timing of the refill are part of the job and stay with the crew. Do not drain the pool ahead of the visit to save a step; a shell that has lifted is not a resurfacing job any more.
Leaks come before finishes
Where there is any sign the pool is losing water, leak detection is scheduled first and the resurfacing quote waits for its result. A finish applied over a known leak is not work we take on, at any price, because it fails and takes your money with it.
The first thirty days are yours
A new finish is cured by its startup chemistry, and the first month decides how long it lasts. You get the startup done and a plain care sheet at handover; following that sheet is yours, and wear that comes from skipping it is not a defect in the finish.
